Do I Get My Ex's Retirement If She Disappears? Lee Borden
Q.
When I divorced a QDRO was approved so when I retire my ex gets part of my FRS retirement. (Even though no kids, we both worked). The order states that the plan assumes no responsibility locating and paying individuals not keeping them informed of change of address. What will they do if she has not provided an up to date address? Will I get my full amount instead of a deduction? Thank you.

If the QDRO is already in place and on record with the Plan Administrator, the money is your Ex's, not yours. If the Plan Administrator can't find her after a reasonable time, it will probably begin the escheat process with the state of her last known address, and if she still can't be found, the money goes eventually to the state. The bottom line is that you should put that money out of your mind. There are many people who might get it, but you're probably not on the list.
