My boyfriend and I broke up and he has a line of credit with my father for $5000.00 and he is now
refusing to pay any of it and claims I owe him money

Additional Details:
The money he claims I owe him is money for all the months he paid more rent so I could pay my bills,
though the original agreement was that he would pay more in rent because I made significantly less
money than him. My father and I agreed that if he would pay $1750.00 of the credit line that he
charged, I would pay the rest, but my ex is demanding I either pay the full $5000 credit line myself
or I pay him what I owe for him paying more in rent with totals out to more than $4560.00. I''m at a
loss for what to do and he claims to have witnesses that say he said he agreed to pay more in rent
so I could pay my bills. Is he even entitled to that money he claims I owe him? What should I do and
how should I handle this?

Generally, if a person owes you money-especially for this amount ($5,000), your father should take your ex to Small Claims court where the maximum limit for individuals is now $10,000. He would be in court within about 45-60 days and get a judgment. If your ex believes you owe him money, he can sue you in Small claims as well. No parties are allowed an attorney in Small Claims. This is most likely the only way you will get this resolved.
