If you return to college as a full time student, your child support obligation to your children in Florida, remains. You have the option to seek a modification of child support, based upon the theory the minor children will benefit from the temporary reduction, because you will earn a college degree, and earn more money. However, you will need to offer evidence that would support these arguments, in order to obtain a temporary reduction in your child support obligation.

I recommend you consult an attorney who can explain in greater detail, the factors the Court will consider in determining whether your specific circumstances meet the burden to grant a temporary reduction in child support.
