after diverce is final

Additional Details:
i have been divorced for a month. married 11 1//2 yrs. i was awarded alimony for a yr and a half,
but my ex lost his job, and became very ill. he left me destitute. i work, but he was the bread
winner in our home. we have no kids, and divorce is non modifiable. what can i do to insure that i
will receive monies from him? no life insurance was in the settlement. i had it removed trying to be
nice. now at 34, he is ill. can i still get life insurance, disabillity, unemployment, ss, or
something? what if he passes? thank you

You are still entitled to whatever you were awarded in the divorce, and you can file contempt in some cases and sue him in others (depending on what you are trying to get), but remember that his inability to pay is a defense to contempt. He can't give you what he doesn't have.
