Child Custody

Child custodyis the custodial award or determination involving a minor child. This involves who has the right to make decisions about the child, or legal custody, including decisions about education, religion, medical issues, and discipline, as well as where the child will live, or physical custody. "Sole custody" is when you alone have legal and physical custody of your child. In a "joint custody" arrangement, you and your ex-spouse share legal and/or physical child custody.

If you and your spouse cannot agree on a child custody arrangement, a court will likely make a child custody decision based on the "best interests of your child." Read on to learn more about child custody law, and to locate a child custody lawyer or child custody attorney. All child custody information is kept strictly confidential. he lives in Mn, where the divorce was granted, she moved to Wisconsin but the child custody agreement was never updated. The oldest is 15 and recently tried to file for emanciaption from her dad, which WI refused to hear, and has made her dad even madder. He demands 50% of all their time so he doesn''t have to pay child support. The kids attend school in WI, and spend all non-school time with him (excluding the two hour commute one way) on weekends. My daughter says she is having enough trouble scheduling extraciricular activities and time with thier friends, and there is no time left over for me - or any of my family gatherings in the schedule. I can''t go to her home because they have a dog and cat and I have allergies. I working a full-time job and cannot be there for band and/or choir concerts. I want to insist that some time be carved out of the schedule for me as their only surviving natural grandmother. I want 2 weekends and a holiday from the dad and he won''t talk to me.

My 3 year old has no relationship with her bio-dad (doesn''t even know he exists) but we had signed a voluntary recognition of parentage when she was born. I haven''t seen or had any contact with him since she was 6 months, though I never told him he couldn''t see her. He pays a small amount to the state for her medical insurance (I couldn''t afford private insurance when she was born) but I waived child support because a) he can''t hold down a job and b) he was psychologically and emotionally abusive to me and when money is involved he gets especially mean and vindictive and threatened to seek full custody if he had to pay child support. I got married 5 months ago and my husband, the only father my daughter has ever known, wants to adopt her. We are working on the paper work. However, and I know this sounds morbid, I want to know what would happen to her if I died before my husband has officially adopted her. I''m scared custody would go to bio-dad. Is this the case in Minnesota?
What are my chances of gaining custody of my 4yr old son? His mom has full physical custody and we h
mom has a long history of mental illness and has been place on 72 hr. holds twice in the last year. mom has borderline persoality disorder with a history of self mutilation, eating disorder, and severe depression. I myself have none of these issues and no criminal record. Our son is well taken care of by her, however I am deeply scared that could all change any given day. mom does provide basic food, shelter, clothing. but her own personal health and safety may jepordize our childs.
Am I allowed to move out of state for a job with my son?
I have full physical custody of my son, and joint legal custody with his father. I was taken to court by my son''s father a few years ago to set up visitation for every other weekend and alternating holidays.
